She’s come a long way from doing house music.
First off, don’t get the ipad thing. As far as I know theres no way to get a refund.
With this album Bjork was using a whole new approach to making songs, something that’s never really been done before to my knowledge is. Problem is it can be pretty bad. I like a lot of particular moments throughout but often those moments are very small parts of songs. I like about 20 seconds in Thunderbolt and its 5 minutes long. I don’t want to listen to the rest of it. Beats are not used as much as they usually are in Bjork songs and the beat coming is almost always the best part of the songs. Hollow sounds frightening for almost four minutes, then the beat comes in and suddenly it works. In Mutual Core the part with the beat is completely different from the rest, and of course its the best part. Crystalline is my favorite, Moon and Virus are both really good. Solstice is like Moon but the instrument playing isn’t a harp so its not good. Sacrifice is not good as well. Dark Matter is scary. Cosmogony is interesting in its lyrics, talking about different ways the universe could’ve been made.
All in all just accept that Bjork isn’t as spot on as she used to be, theres still some good songs just not as many.
